NUSTIAN USA announces its leadership transition
NUSTIAN USA has had an incredible year 2021 — from successful fundraising to organizing community events, the organization has shown resilience and solidarity in the face of challenging times. This year, the organization transitioned its leadership and established a Board of Trustees (BoT). All members of BoT have a long history of community leadership, including strategic and high value contributions to NUSTIAN USA.
The organization announced the members of the first Board of Trustees. These include, the current President, Ahsan Rehman and the co-founders Shiraz Bashir (former President), Dr. Tehmoor Dar (former Sec. General), Dr. Rashed Z. Bhatti (former VP Academics), Raheel Bodla (former VP Industrial Linkages), Dr. Maria Riaz (former VP Alumnae), Sohaib Haider (former Treasurer).
The BoT will oversee NUSTIAN USA’s executive leadership to further the organization’s mission and strategic direction. The Board of Trustees held their first official meeting on November, 21, 2021.
During the meeting, the BoT unanimously voted to elect Dr. Maria Riaz (former VP Alumnae) as the Chairperson and Sohaib Haider (former Treasurer) as the Secretary. “Please join us in welcoming the Board of Trustees team to their new roles” says Ahsan Rehman, President NUSTIAN USA.
During the meeting, Ahsan Rehman, President NUSTIAN USA shared key updates including the strong impact the organization had in areas such as fundraising (121% growth YoY; creating 100 Zakat scholarships and 5 new endowment seats), streamling the coaching initiatives (solid membership growth with 150 additional members), and new initiatives for industrial linkages, professional mentoring and collaboration with external organizations. He also de-briefed the team on the team’s annual event (themed #StrongerTogether) held in the San Franciso Bay Area. Approximately 120 participants attended the event, including the alumni and community partners.
